Natural Medicine of Vermont

Natural Medicine of Vermont (NMV) is an integrative naturopathic medical facility whose goal is to provide comprehensive and expert health care services. NMV, located in Middlebury, Vermont, is owned and operated by Dr. Karen Miller-Lane, N.D.,L.Ac. a licensed naturopathic physician and acupuncturist.

Many of us are exploring healthful options to treating disease and pain that restore health rather than merely treat symptoms and involve few side effects. Naturopathic medicine and Acupuncture stand at the forefront of providing informed, thorough, and gentle ways of achieving this approach to health. As a Naturopathic Physician licensed in Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture and trained in Craniosacral Therapy, I am able to unite many different complementary practices into one visit. This integrative approach provides the best possible treatment and outcomes natural medicine has to offer. I look forward to working with you.

Covid-19 Update:

Greetings,

We are hoping everyone is taking good care as we transition into fall/winter. Everyone continues to be responsible and promoting care for each other and our community by wearing masks, washing hands frequently, socially distancing as necessary, and staying home when not feeling well. It continues to make an impact here in Vermont. It matters.

Natural Medicine of Vermont continues to be flexible and adaptable to meet the particular times and adhere to the optimal and recommended practices to keep everyone safe. As always we continue to stay flexible with scheduling and visits and we will do our best to keep you updated and informed. As said in the previous update, while many things have changed and will continue to evolve, our commitment to your care and safety is steadfast.

The latest update:

Telemedicine visits are available as necessary and as needed. Please let us know if you prefer a telemedicine or in-office visit.

We are offering in-office acupuncture visits, preventative health and wellness visits, Biofield Tuning sessions, Bengston Method, Frequency Specific Microcurrent and Craniosacral sessions. Please be aware that if the need arises Dr. Karen is able to do Biofield Tuning sessions and the Bengston Method via telemedicine or phone consultation.

Our present office policy:

Due to the fact we are a very small practice, we do not have the facilities required and necessary to manage high risk Covid 19 patients and will not be able to see these patients.  Also due to this reason, we are not seeing any people with infectious respiratory symptoms in the office.

When scheduling an appointment you will be asked if you have:

  • Fever, cough, shortness of breath, body aches, runny nose, nasal congestion, sore throat, difficulty breathing, headache, chills, or new loss of taste or smell.
  • Or in the last 14 days
    • Been in close contact with a person who is a suspected Covid-19 patient while that person was ill
    • Been in close contact with an ill confirmed case of Covid-19
    • Recently been out of state

You will also be called 1 to 2 days prior to your appointment to screen for symptoms. If you have any of the above symptoms you will need to reschedule an on-site visit or set up a telemedicine appointment.

The following protocols will be implemented:

  • We will be spacing out visits so that ideally only one patient is in the office at a time.
  • We request that you schedule any visits to the office and do not just “stop by”.  Please be aware that the building will be locked to ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone using the building – as we share the space with many wonderful practitioners.
  • We request that you remain in your car and not in the waiting room.  We will call you or will step out onto the back porch at the time of your visit.
  • We require masks for all who enter and we require you to wash your hands before coming into the office.  We will be following the same protocols – wearing masks and washing hands.
  • We will take your temperature with a non-contact thermometer as you enter the office.
  • We will have hand sanitizers in each room.
  • We request, as able, maintaining social distancing.
  • After each patient we have a strict disinfecting plan for cleaning the rooms and public spaces in between patients.

We are impressed and honored to be part of this community.  Vermonters have been staying home, social distancing, wearing masks as needed, and supporting each other. We are in this for the long haul. Taking care of ourselves and each other is a journey, not a destination.  These are unique and challenging times and we want you to know we are here for you to support you in whatever way we are able.  This has never changed.

We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to keep you, and our community, safe in our practice. To make an appointment, please call our office at 802-388-6250.

Take good care –

From your team at Natural Medicine of Vermont,

Karen and Karri
